Police have arrested 6 persons of Khauf gang, within 72 hours of alleged firing case in Arnia. Three pistols, with five sharp-edged weapons (tokas) and 6 live rounds have also been recovered.

This was shared by the SP Headquarters Anna Lata Sinha, while addressing a press conference here on Monday evening.

“Taking immediate cognisance of the incident, Police Station Arnia launched a preliminary enquiry and initiated sustained efforts to identify and apprehend the persons involved. The available CCTV footage was meticulously scrutinised and back-tracked, covering various points along the route taken by the suspects from the place of occurrence,” SP Sinha stated.

She said that clear snapshots of the suspects were subsequently extracted from the footage and circulated among reliable local sources. Based on the reliable intelligence all six accused were rounded up and taken to police custody for questioning.

An FIR was registered in the Police Station Arnia under the relevant provisions of law.

“Further investigation is in progress to uncover backward and forward linkages of the case,” SP Sinha asserted.

SP Headquarters Jammu cautioned parents to ensure their children stay away from gangsterism and focus on education and fitness else they shall be taken to task. “Youth must be cultivated to become true assets to their society, instead of becoming agents of anti-national elements,” she said, while reaffirming the stand of taking tough action against gangsters and organised crime.

The arrested individuals are residents of Bishnah and the alleged members of the Khouf Gang, accused of threatening a local of Kool Kalan, Ashwani Kumar, on September 3 by displaying a pistol and ‘tokas (sharp-edged weapons).
