Srinagar, Sep 5: Athwas India XI FC began their Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League (KSL) Season 2 campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Sanctorum North United FC at the TRC Ground here on Saturday.
In the second match of the league, Athwas India XI FC, as per a statement, secured the decisive goal through a penalty, which proved enough to settle a closely contested encounter.
Both teams battled hard throughout the match, but Athwas India XI FC held their composure when it mattered to walk away with all three points.
The victory gives Athwas a winning start to their campaign, while Sanctorum North United FC will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixture.
The match was played at the TRC Ground as the second season of the franchise-based league continued following Friday’s thrilling 3-3 draw between Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC and United Elegant FC.
New JK United FC, Swift Strikers FC to meet Sunday
The KSL Season 2 action will continue on Sunday when New JK United FC take on Swift Strikers FC Rainawari at the TRC Ground.
The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The second edition of the KSL features six franchise teams, United Elegant FC, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC, Athwas India XI FC, Sanctorum North United FC, New JK United FC and Swift Strikers FC Rainawari, competing for the league crown.
