Axis Bank on Monday inaugurated its new branch at Lal Bazar in Srinagar, taking its total number of branches in Jammu and Kashmir to 61.

The branch was inaugurated by Shailendra Kumar, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) and Head of the Finance Department, in the presence of Reynold D’Souza, Group Head, Branch Banking and TASC Business; Sheikh Gowhar, Cluster Head; Adil Shah and Syed Majid, Branch Head.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by customers and residents from the branch’s catchment area.

The new branch will provide a range of banking and financial services, including cash credit and term loan facilities, consumer loans, gold loans, credit cards, business loans and other retail and business banking solutions.

The bank said the new branch is part of its ongoing expansion across J&K, with a focus on strengthening its presence in key locations and providing accessible banking services to individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses.

The Lal Bazar branch is expected to cater to the growing financial requirements of customers in the area and surrounding localities, while supporting local businesses, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.

The inauguration also coincides with Axis Bank’s “Sparsh Week”, a nationwide customer-connect initiative being observed from September 7 to 14.

During the week, senior officials and leadership teams of the bank are visiting cities and locations across the country to meet customers, understand their evolving financial requirements and strengthen customer relationships.

As part of the initiative, Axis Bank plans to connect with around 2.5 lakh customers across the country, covering locations from “Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Kohima”.

The bank said the initiative reflects its focus on strengthening customer relationships and providing more personalised and customer-centric banking solutions.
