GANDERBAL, OCT 27: As part of the ongoing Ekta Diwas celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Ganderbal Police organised a Farmers’ Sammelan on Agricultural Reforms at Police Station Gund, providing a platform for farmers to discuss agriculture-related challenges, learn about modern farming practices and gain awareness of government welfare initiatives.

The programme was chaired by SDPO Kangan, Rajeev Raina, and attended by officers from the Agriculture Department, who interacted with participating farmers and highlighted key aspects of agricultural reforms, progressive cultivation techniques and government schemes aimed at improving the agricultural sector.

The interaction focused on strengthening farmers’ awareness of modern agricultural practices and available support mechanisms, while encouraging them to adopt improved techniques to enhance productivity and support sustainable rural livelihoods. Farmers also exchanged views on issues affecting the farming community and discussed measures for addressing their concerns through better coordination with the concerned departments.

The Sammelan underscored the importance of farmer empowerment, rural development and interdepartmental cooperation in improving the socio-economic conditions of farming communities. The participation of Agriculture Department officials provided an opportunity for direct interaction with farmers and helped promote awareness of initiatives intended to strengthen the agricultural economy.

The programme also highlighted the community-oriented role of the police in extending public outreach beyond conventional law-and-order responsibilities. By facilitating awareness and interaction on issues linked to rural livelihoods, Ganderbal Police sought to strengthen public-police relations and contribute to community welfare.

Organised in the spirit of Ekta Diwas, the initiative also reaffirmed the ideals of national unity and collective responsibility associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, while promoting cooperation among farmers, government departments and the police for rural development and public welfare.
