GANDERBAL, SEPT 23: Hoteliers in Sonamarg have urged the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to restore uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply to the tourist destination, saying frequent power disruptions and restricted supply are affecting hotel operations and causing inconvenience to visitors.
In a letter addressed to the Superintending Engineer, KPDCL Ganderbal, the Beopar Mandal Association Sonamarg said reliable electricity was essential for the smooth functioning of hotels and for maintaining basic services such as lighting, heating and cooling, kitchen operations and water supply.
The association said frequent interruptions were also affecting the safety, comfort and overall experience of tourists, besides disrupting day-to-day business operations. It cautioned that continued power issues could adversely affect the reputation of Sonamarg as a major tourist destination.
“We are writing on behalf of hoteliers located in Sonamarg District Ganderbal to request the restoration of uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply to our establishment,” the association said in its communication.
The traders’ body further stated that the hoteliers had cleared all electricity consumption dues and were complying with the regulations and requirements prescribed by the department.
The association has appealed to KPDCL authorities to take immediate measures to restore and maintain round-the-clock power supply to hotels in Sonamarg, particularly in view of the importance of uninterrupted essential services for tourists and hospitality establishments.
