ANANTNAG, OCT 5: Marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed across the country as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), Anantnag Police organised a series of sports and creative competitions at the District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag, using the occasion to promote national unity, discipline and constructive youth engagement.
The celebrations featured Chess, Carrom and Badminton tournaments, providing participants a platform to demonstrate their sporting skills while fostering teamwork, discipline, competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The initiative also encouraged young participants to channel their energy towards positive and productive activities.
A Drawing and Painting Competition was simultaneously organised at DPL Anantnag, where participants gave creative expression to their understanding of national unity, integrity and harmony through artwork. The competition provided a platform for participants to communicate the values associated with National Unity Day in an engaging and imaginative manner.
The programme underscored the role of community-oriented policing in creating opportunities for youth beyond conventional policing activities. By bringing participants together through sports and creative pursuits, the initiative sought to strengthen interaction between the police and the community while encouraging a culture of cooperation, discipline and mutual respect.
The observance also highlighted the enduring relevance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to India’s unity and integration, with the activities providing a youth-centric platform to reinforce the message of collective responsibility and national solidarity.
