Srinagar, Oct 5: Students of Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) brought laurels to the school by securing three podium finishes at the Kashmir Marathon – Run for Unity, organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Police on October 1, 2026.
As per a statement issued, the prestigious sporting event witnessed participation from more than 6,000 runners in different categories and promoted the values of fitness, unity, discipline and sportsmanship. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, graced the closing and felicitation ceremony, where he congratulated the participants and commended the enthusiasm and energy of the youth.
Making the occasion particularly memorable for GVEI, three of its students delivered outstanding performances in their respective categories. Liyana Ishrath of Class 7th Pink secured the first position in the U/14 Girls category and won a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Hareem Ishrath of Class 10th Orange secured the second position in the Junior Girls (U/18) category and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Labeeb Shah of Class 6th Orange secured the third position in the U/14 category and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
The achievement marked a proud moment for the students, their parents and the entire GVEI community. The students also had the opportunity to share a memorable moment with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, adding further significance to their achievement.
The school administration congratulated Liyana Ishrath, Hareem Ishrath and Labeeb Shah for their remarkable performances and appreciated their dedication, endurance and sporting spirit.
