Srinagar, Oct 16: In a latest development, Project Directorate of J&K SamagraShiksha has sought an action-taken report from the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) across J&K regarding the implementation of the guidelines for the 10 bagless days in schools for class 6th to 8th students.
A fresh circular in this regard has been issued by the Administrative Officer, SamagraShiksha, J&K, Ashwini Kumar, with instructions to all the CEOs to submit the consolidated monthly report of their respective districts by the 5th of every month.
As per the official communication, the guidelines issued by the NCERT last year set out the guidelines for implementation of 10 Bagless Days for classes 6th to 8th in government schools.
“The initiative aims to strengthen experiential learning, vocational exposure and competency-based education among students through structured skill-based activities integrated in school education,” the communication reads.
“The beauty of the bagless days lies in how it exemplifies the right touch of vocationalisation of education in the context of meaningful physical participation of all students through experiential activities using all 3Hs—Head, Hand and Heart,” it reads.
As per the communication, the guidelines have been issued to help schools to implement the activities in a systematic way.
“In this connection, I am directed to request you to kindly circulate the guidelines to all schools, viz. HSS/HS/MS where 6th to 8th classes are running, for successful implementation of the 10-Bagless Days as per NEP 2020 in letter and spirit,” it reads.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Administrative Officer JK SamagraShiksha said the guidelines were already being implemented in schools since last year, but the fresh communication has been issued to seek an action-taken report.
“The bagless days are already observed, and guidelines were implemented in schools as the communications were issued by the respective directors of education to schools in this regard. We have sent a communication only to seek an action-taken report as it is not coming to us yet,” he told Greater Kashmir.
He said that observing bagless days in schools is for pre-vocational awareness and promotion of vocational education taught to students from class 9th onwards.
“During the 10 bagless days, all the academic activities remain suspended for classes 6th to 8th, and students experience activity-based learning so that they develop an interest in vocational education,” he said.
