DRASS, OCT 17: District Police Drass has received 11 solar-powered surveillance cameras under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited, in a move aimed at strengthening security infrastructure, improving monitoring of key locations and enhancing public safety across the district.

The cameras were formally handed over during a ceremony held at the 220/66 kV POWERGRID Drass Substation on Saturday. Representatives of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited, the CSR funding agency and turnkey contractor for various projects in Drass, handed over the equipment to the Superintendent of Police, Drass, in the presence of POWERGRID officials led by the Deputy General Manager.

The installation of the surveillance cameras is expected to enhance the district’s monitoring capabilities by facilitating closer observation of important locations, strengthening security arrangements and supporting a prompt response to security-related incidents.

The solar-powered technology is particularly significant for Drass, where remote road stretches and built-up areas may present challenges for conventional power connectivity. By reducing dependence on grid electricity, the cameras are expected to provide a more reliable surveillance option in locations where uninterrupted power supply may be difficult to ensure.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP Drass expressed gratitude to POWERGRID and Techno Electric and Engineering Company Ltd. for their contribution towards strengthening the district’s security infrastructure. He appreciated the initiative and observed that the additional cameras would support surveillance efforts and reinforce public safety measures.

POWERGRID officials reiterated their commitment to supporting local welfare and regional development through CSR initiatives. They also assured continued cooperation with the District Administration and District Police in efforts to improve public safety, security and the overall well-being of the region.

As a gesture of appreciation for his support and cooperation in facilitating the initiative, a memento was presented to the Deputy General Manager of POWERGRID.

The contribution reflects the role of corporate-sector participation in supplementing public security infrastructure, particularly in strategically important and geographically challenging areas such as Drass. The addition of solar-powered surveillance equipment is expected to provide District Police with enhanced monitoring support while contributing to safer public spaces and more effective security management.
