REASI, OCT 24: In a major road safety enforcement drive, Reasi Police has intensified action against old, unsafe and unroadworthy vehicles operating across the district, challaning 124 vehicles and seizing 16 others during the last two days.

The enforcement campaign aims to prevent mechanically defective and unsafe vehicles from operating on public roads and endangering the lives of commuters, passengers, pedestrians and other road users. The action reflects the police department’s continued focus on traffic regulation, vehicle safety and the prevention of road accidents arising from negligence and non-compliance with prescribed standards.

During the checking operations, police personnel acted against vehicles found violating applicable rules. The drive specifically focused on identifying vehicles that were mechanically unfit, poorly maintained or otherwise in violation of mandatory road safety requirements.

District Police Reasi has urged vehicle owners and drivers to ensure that their vehicles remain in proper working condition and meet all applicable safety standards before being driven on public roads.

Owners have been advised to maintain valid vehicle documents, including fitness certificates, Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates and other mandatory papers, wherever applicable. Drivers have also been directed to follow traffic regulations and ensure that mechanical defects are rectified promptly.

Police have cautioned that operating an unsafe vehicle can put not only the driver and passengers at risk but also endanger pedestrians and other motorists. Vehicle owners have accordingly been advised against using vehicles that are mechanically defective or unfit for safe operation.

Reiterating its commitment to public safety, District Police Reasi stated that strict enforcement against traffic violations and unsafe vehicles would continue across the district.

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement personnel, maintain their vehicles in roadworthy condition and comply with traffic rules. The department has emphasised that responsible driving, regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to safety requirements are essential for reducing road risks and protecting human lives.

With 140 vehicles challaned or seized in just two days, the enforcement drive sends a strong message that violations compromising road safety will invite action. District Police Reasi has urged all road users to prioritise safety and contribute towards making the district’s roads safer for everyone.
