The Department of Architecture, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), will host the second edition of its annual architecture festival, Nairang-e-Tameer, from September 8 to 10, 2026. This year’s theme, “Traditions in Practice: Celebrating Craft, Culture & Community,” explores the relationship between traditional knowledge, contemporary practice, craft and community.<\/p>\n
The three-day festival aims to strengthen connections between academia, professional practice and the community while celebrating and exploring the continued relevance of Kashmir’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It will feature the Architects’ Conclave: Perspectives in Practice, bringing distinguished architects and design professionals from across the country for featured lectures and discussions.<\/p>\n
The programme will also include an exhibition titled Works in Practice, showcasing works from professional practice and heritage documentation by students and the department, alongside the Entrepreneurship Forum: Practice-Academia Dialogue, focused on architectural practice, entrepreneurship and industry-academia engagement.<\/p>\n
Workshops on traditional Kashmiri crafts, a photography and film exhibition, competitions, cultural programmes and sports events will further provide opportunities for experiential learning, creative expression and interaction.<\/p>\n
The festival is being supported by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu and Kashmir, Boton Furnitures, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and Antique by Studio X, whose association contributes to the successful organisation of the three-day programme.<\/p>\n
