With cyber fraud emerging as a growing financial threat in Ladakh, Leh Police has urged residents to immediately dial 1930 after any financial cyber fraud, stressing that the first 60 minutes—the “golden hour”—can improve the chances of tracing and blocking fraudulent transactions.<\/p>\n
The advisory was issued during Bajaj Finance Ltd.’s Arthsutra Samvad, a financial literacy and awareness programme held at Chuchot Yokma Panchayat Ghar, Govt Higher Secondary School Chuchot and Panchayat Ghar Phayang.<\/p>\n
The programme brought together cyber police officials, students, women representatives, village leaders and youth representatives to promote financial awareness, responsible money management and safe use of digital financial services.<\/p>\n
SHO Shamim Ahmed, Cyber In-charge, Leh, said cyber fraud had become a serious concern in Ladakh.<\/p>\n
“The first 60 minutes are the golden hour. If a victim reports the fraud on 1930 within this period, it significantly increases the chances of tracing and blocking the money,” he said.<\/p>\n
He urged victims not to hesitate or feel embarrassed after losing money through digital transactions.<\/p>\n
According to the release, cyber fraud in Leh resulted in losses of around \u20b9<\/span>10 crore between 2021 and 2026, involving 1,077 complaints.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the establishment of a dedicated Cyber Police Station in Ladakh in view of rising cybercrime, including financial fraud, online scams, digital arrests and identity theft. The station will have jurisdiction across the Union Territory.<\/p>\n Leh Police and Bajaj Finance urged citizens to remain vigilant and report fraudulent transactions without delay.<\/p>\n
