The second season of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League (KSL) got off to an entertaining start on Friday as Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC and United Elegant FC played out a 3-3 draw in the inaugural match at the TRC Ground here.<\/p>\n

Played under lights, the opening fixture, as per a statement, witnessed a good football crowd at the TRC Ground, with supporters turning up to watch the return of the franchise-based league for its second season.<\/p>\n

The six-goal contest saw both teams display attacking intent, with neither side able to establish an advantage as the two franchises shared the points in an absorbing opening encounter.<\/p>\n

For United Elegant FC, Shakir scored twice, while Aqif Reshi added one goal to complete their three-goal tally.<\/p>\n

For Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC, Ahteeb scored twice, while Sahil Rashid found the net once as the Avengers also finished with three goals.<\/p>\n

The result meant both teams began their Season 2 campaigns with a point apiece.<\/p>\n

Before the start of the match, Advisor to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani, attended the inaugural event as the chief guest.<\/p>\n

Wani interacted with the players and team officials of both United Elegant FC and Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC ahead of kick-off and wished the teams well for the tournament.<\/p>\n

His presence marked the formal opening of the second edition of the league, which aims to provide footballers in J&K with a competitive and professionally structured platform while bringing franchise-based football closer to supporters.<\/p>\n

National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah also made his way to the TRC Ground to watch the inaugural match.<\/p>\n

Abdullah’s presence added to the atmosphere at the venue as he watched the opening fixture of the second edition, which produced a high-scoring contest between Aqua Kashmir Avengers and United Elegant FC.<\/p>\n

The second season features six franchise teams, United Elegant FC, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC, Athwas India XI FC, Sanctorum North United FC, New JK United FC and Swift Strikers FC Rainawari.<\/p>\n

The franchises finalised their squads following a player bidding process that witnessed the participation of around 200 footballers, giving local players an opportunity to earn places in the six teams competing in the league.<\/p>\n

Following Friday’s opening draw, the competition will continue on Saturday with Athwas India XI FC taking on Sanctorum North United FC, while New JK United FC will face Swift Strikers FC Rainawari on Sunday.<\/p>\n
