LEH, SEPT 17: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 396 newly selected candidates at a Rozgar Mela in Leh, underlining the Ladakh Administration’s focus on transparent regular recruitment, youth employment and strengthening people-centric governance.
The Rozgar Mela was organised at the CIBS Auditorium Hall, Choglamsar, on the occasion of Sewa Diwas, marking the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The newly appointed recruits include lecturers selected through the UPSC as well as candidates recruited through the LSSSSB, Leh Autonomous Hill Development Subordinate Services Recruitment Board and KSSRB.
With Thursday’s appointments, more than 1,200 permanent appointment orders have been issued in Ladakh since March 2026, while 1,361 candidates have been recommended for appointment through the UPSC, LSSSSB and District Selection Boards. Recruitment to another 1,507 posts is in the pipeline for 2026.
Addressing the recruits, the LG said an appointment letter represents years of hard work, family expectations and the aspiration for a better future.
He emphasised that government service is not merely a source of employment but an opportunity to assume responsibility and serve society with dedication and integrity.
Saxena said the Administration is committed to replacing ad-hoc appointments with regular, transparent and accountable recruitment.
He noted that 27 Recruitment Rules have been notified or amended since March 2026, creating the institutional framework required to accelerate regular recruitment across departments.
The LG also highlighted measures for career progression of existing employees, informing that 726 promotions have been made through Departmental Promotion Committees so far in 2026.
Referring to Sewa Diwas, Saxena said the appointment letters being handed over to young employees on the occasion should also be seen as a commitment to public service.
He stressed the importance of creating opportunities that enable youth not only to seek employment but also to emerge as entrepreneurs and job creators.
The Lieutenant Governor said the Administration’s objective goes beyond generating government employment and is aimed at building a responsive, efficient and people-centric administration that creates opportunities for youth while ensuring better delivery of services to the people.
Congratulating the newly appointed employees, Saxena expressed confidence that they would discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ladakh.
