KULGAM, SEPT 13: Devsar Police arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 746 grams of a cannabis-like substance from his possession.
The operation was conducted by a dynamic naka party at Sopat near Ziyarat Sharif Link Road, where personnel intercepted a person moving under suspicious circumstances.
The suspect was identified as Rouf Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, a resident of Gund Tankipora.
During his search, police recovered a polythene bag containing approximately 746 grams of the suspected cannabis-like substance, following which he was taken into custody.
A case has been registered at Police Station Devsar vide FIR Number 65/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been set into motion.
Investigators are probing the source of the recovered contraband and its intended destination, besides examining possible links of the accused with a wider drug-trafficking network.
Kulgam Police reiterated its zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics and warned that those involved in drug trafficking and peddling would face stringent legal action. Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and share information regarding drug peddling, trafficking or suspicious activities, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
