Jammu, Oct 27: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra Tuesday hailed the expansion of the Council of Ministers in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the initiative reflects Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s deep yearning to strengthen public outreach and make governance more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
As per a statement issued, Sadhotra said the expansion was yet another step towards fulfilling the commitments made by the National Conference to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said a stronger Council of Ministers would facilitate greater interaction with the people and help address issues confronting different sections of society in a more effective and time-bound manner. “This is yet another step forward towards fulfilling the commitments of inclusive growth, speedy implementation of welfare schemes and fast-tracking development,” Sadhotra said, adding that the government’s focus has all along remained firmly on delivery, accountability and public service. He said the people had voted for a government that promised to restore confidence in democratic institutions and give due attention to their day-to-day concerns. The expanded Council of Ministers, he added, would provide greater impetus to this process and strengthen the government’s connect with people across regions and sections. Sadhotra said the National Conference had always accorded the highest priority to youth, describing them as the strength and future of Jammu and Kashmir. He said creating avenues for education, employment, entrepreneurship, skill development and meaningful participation in the economy would remain central to the party’s policies. “The aspirations of our youth need opportunities, skills, a supportive environment and a government committed to creating a brighter future for them,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister has been tirelessly working towards this objective. He expressed confidence that the newly inducted ministers would discharge their responsibilities with commitment, humility and a strong sense of public service. He said their experience and political connect would help the government take development and welfare initiatives closer to the people.
Sadhotra congratulated all the new ministers on being entrusted with important responsibilities and wished them success in their new assignments. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir expect the government to work with unity of purpose and translate its vision into tangible results. “Every responsibility in public life is a responsibility towards the people. The people hope that the new ministers will rise to the occasion and contribute towards realizing the vision of a progressive, peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, as per the political philosophy of the National Conference,” Sadhotra said.
