JAMMU, OCT 30: The War Wounded Foundation (WWF) is playing a significant role in empowering war-disabled soldiers by providing mobility assistance, promoting self-reliance and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring dignity, independence and social reintegration for those who sustained disabilities while serving the nation.
Highlighting the Foundation’s initiatives, Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd), Director, North Zone, WWF, informed that the organisation has distributed 100 modified scooters and 12 auto-rickshaws among disabled soldiers across the northern states and Union Territories. These initiatives have helped beneficiaries overcome mobility challenges, improve accessibility and regain greater independence in their daily lives.
During the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally organised by the Indian Army’s Tiger Division at Miran Sahib on October 30, the Foundation extended further assistance by presenting a modified scooter and a battery-operated wheelchair to war-disabled soldiers.
In another important welfare initiative, WWF is providing financial assistance to a disabled soldier for establishing a poultry farm, with the objective of promoting self-employment and ensuring long-term economic independence.
Beyond providing physical assistance and financial support, the Foundation also focuses on psychological encouragement, motivation and emotional empowerment. Its initiatives seek to help war-disabled soldiers overcome personal and professional challenges, rebuild their confidence and lead productive lives with dignity rather than becoming dependent on others.
The Foundation’s efforts reflect a broader commitment towards the rehabilitation and empowerment of soldiers who have suffered life-changing injuries in the line of duty. By combining mobility support with livelihood opportunities and psychological encouragement, WWF is working to transform the lives of beneficiaries and facilitate their meaningful reintegration into society.
Through its sustained welfare initiatives, the War Wounded Foundation continues to uphold the spirit of solidarity and service towards the nation’s brave soldiers, guided by its inspiring philosophy of “Converting Disability into Ability.”
