KHALTSI, SEPT 17: A Padyatra was organised at the District Headquarters, Sham, on Wednesday as part of the UT-wide Drug Awareness Campaign under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo, to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
The programme began with the Deputy Commissioner administering the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) pledge, which was collectively taken by all participants.
This was followed by a mega awareness rally from Khaltsi Bus Stand to Zerthang Photang, with participants raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and calling for collective action against the menace.
The event witnessed participation from I/c Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khaltsi Attahullah Khan, officers and officials of various departments at District Headquarters Sham, staff and students of Government Higher Secondary School Khaltsi, Government Middle School Khaltsi, Lamdon Jamyang School and Moravain Academy School, besides representatives of local communities.
Participants carried awareness messages highlighting the importance of prevention and community involvement in tackling drug abuse and protecting the younger generation from its physical, psychological and social consequences.
The Padyatra conveyed a strong message of solidarity and collective responsibility, reaffirming the commitment of District Sham towards achieving the goal of a Drug-Free Sham.
