A series of Kashmiri-language textbooks for students of Classes 1 to 5, titled the Zabarwan Series, was unveiled at a book release ceremony in Srinagar on Friday.
The event, organised by Vision Books International at a local hotel, brought together prominent writers, educationists and scholars associated with Kashmiri language and literature.
Among those present were veteran author and translator Prof. Neerja Mattu, noted poet Prof. Naseem Shafie, author and historian Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Adbi Markaz Kamraz President Mohammad Amin Bhat, educationist Ishfaq Ahmad Khan and educationist Aijaz Ahmad Wani.
The series has been authored by young award-winning writer Dheeba Nazir, who welcomed the guests and spoke about the research and effort involved in developing the textbooks.
A research paper on the Zabarwan Series was presented by Afroza Akther, who highlighted the educational value of the books and their role in promoting Kashmiri language and literature among young learners.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Neerja Mattu congratulated Dheeba Nazir on the publication and underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the Kashmiri mother tongue through quality educational material for children.
Other speakers described the publication of the Zabarwan Series as a significant initiative to strengthen Kashmiri language education and encourage young students to learn in their native language.
The programme was moderated by writer and journalist Zubair Qureshi, who also presented the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
