The Department of Posts, J&K Circle, has invited public participation in the Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition and Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana for 2026-27.
The Dhai Akhar competition is open to Indian citizens in two age categories — up to 18 years and above 18 years. Participants can submit handwritten letters in English, Hindi or any regional language on the theme, “A Letter to Mother Earth: My Promise to Protect Nature.”
Entries can be submitted on an Inland Letter Card of up to 500 words or in an envelope of up to 1,000 words. They must include an age declaration as of Jan. 1, 2026, and the envelope should be superscribed “DHAI AKHAR Letter 2026.”
Entries will be accepted from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 and sent to the Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Postal Circle. Circle-level winners will receive Rs 25,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for first, second and third places, respectively. The top three entries will advance to the national round, where winners will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000.
The Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana offers an annual philately scholarship of Rs 6,000 to students of Classes VI to IX with at least 60% marks, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students. Applicants must be members of a School Philately Club or hold a personal Philately Deposit Account.
Selection will be based on a philately project and quiz assessed by a Circle-level committee. Up to 40 students per postal Circle will receive the scholarship, paid quarterly into a joint account with a parent.
