SOPORE, OCT 26: Sopore Police organised a “Run for Unity” from Saidpora to Dooru on Sunday to honour the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police and promote the values of national unity, brotherhood, patriotism and community solidarity.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth, students and prominent members of the area, who joined the run to pay tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The initiative highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the fallen heroes while encouraging the younger generation to uphold the ideals of courage, discipline and dedication.

The run was flagged off from Saidpora and culminated at Dooru, with participants carrying banners and raising slogans in remembrance of the bravehearts. The event created an atmosphere of unity and collective respect for the personnel whose sacrifices continue to inspire generations.

The primary objective of the initiative was to pay homage to the supreme sacrifices of police martyrs while spreading a message of peace, harmony and national integration. It also aimed to encourage physical fitness among young people and strengthen public participation in activities that promote social cohesion and a sense of collective responsibility.

During the programme, police officers paid rich tributes to the fallen personnel and urged the youth to draw inspiration from their courage, patriotism and unwavering commitment to duty. They emphasised that the values demonstrated by the martyrs should serve as a guiding force for young people in contributing towards a peaceful, united and progressive society.

The participation of students and local residents also underscored the importance of community engagement in fostering mutual trust and understanding between the police and the public. Such initiatives provide an opportunity for police personnel and citizens to come together beyond routine law-enforcement activities and work towards shared social objectives.

The event further reinforced the message that honouring the martyrs extends beyond remembrance, requiring society to uphold the principles of unity, integrity, service and brotherhood for which they made the supreme sacrifice.

Sopore Police reiterated its commitment to honouring the legacy of its martyrs and ensuring that their sacrifices remain a source of inspiration for future generations. The department also emphasised the importance of continued public cooperation in promoting peace, harmony and stronger police-public relations across the region.
