Operating with impressive control, the left-arm seamer bowled 20.1 overs, conceding just 36 runs and taking three wickets, finishing with an economy rate of 1.79 runs per over.

It was a spell built around patience rather than aggression. Sunil repeatedly hit the right areas, allowing little room for the batters to free their arms and making it difficult for them to settle at the crease.

His three wickets came at crucial stages of the Rest of India innings and helped J&K maintain their grip on the proceedings. Along with Umar Nazir and Nasir Muzaffar Lone, Sunil ensured that wickets continued to fall regularly as Rest of India were eventually bowled out for 237 in 68.1 overs.

The economy rate was perhaps the clearest reflection of his impact. By conceding fewer than two runs an over, Sunil kept the scoring rate under control and forced the Rest of India batters to work hard for their runs.

The disciplined spell also meant that even when Rest of India attempted to rebuild after losing early wickets, J&K’s bowlers never allowed them to dictate the tempo.

For Sunil, the performance underlined the value of accuracy and consistency in first-class cricket. His ability to swing the ball while maintaining a miserly economy made him a constant threat throughout the day.

With J&K missing several of their regular pace options, Sunil’s contribution assumed even greater significance as the hosts bowled out a strong Rest of India batting line-up for a modest first-innings total.
