Srinagar, Oct 05: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court’s notice concerning decisions taken by an Election Commissioner, while saying the party would present its new constitution to the public after approval by its working committee.
Commenting on the Supreme Court’s notice concerning the Election Commissioner’s decisions, Abdullah welcomed the court’s intervention.
“I am very happy that the Supreme Court has taken cognisance of this,” he said.
Speaking about a party meeting, Abdullah said it was convened to strengthen the organisation and identify shortcomings that needed to be addressed.
“The meeting was held to strengthen the party,” he said, adding that discussions were held with Srinagar’s eight MLAs, ward presidents and other party workers.
“We spoke to them about the shortcomings that need to be addressed,” Abdullah said.
He said the party would present its new constitution to the public after completing the necessary internal procedures.
“First, we will place it before our working committee. After it is approved, the process will move forward,” he said.
