Jammu, Sep 10: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday visited a joint temporary operating base manned by personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF at the Doda-Kathua-Udhampur trijunction, officials said.
Prabhat was accompanied by IG Jammu zone, Tejinder Singh; DIG Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar range, Sargun Shukla; DIG Udhampur-Reasi range, Shiv Kumar Sharma; and SSP Doda, Kartik Shrotriya during the visit, they said.
He was briefed on operational readiness and assessment of the security situation in the district by the SSP.
The visit comes amid heightened security operations in the region.
There are reports of suspicious armed movement in the Billawar area of Kathua district, prompting security forces to launch a cordon-and-search operation, they said.
The operation was underway in Billawar after locals reportedly spotted suspicious armed men, officials said.
The operation is being conducted by the SOG of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, they said.
