KCCI welcomes 2-year extension of LTC scheme for J&K

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has welcomed the Central Government’s decision to extend by another two years the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) facility for its employees to visit Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chamber said the extension is a positive and timely decision that will provide a further impetus to the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly by encouraging government employees and their families to visit the region.

KCCI had taken up the matter with the Central Government, seeking continuation of the LTC facility for Jammu and Kashmir, keeping in view its importance for the tourism industry and the wider local economy. The Chamber thanks the Government for considering the issue and for the favourable decision.

The KCCI said the tourism sector has a significant multiplier effect on Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, supporting hotels, houseboats, restaurants, transporters, travel agencies, guides, handicraft, and other allied businesses. Increased tourist movement through the LTC scheme will, therefore, benefit a wide range of stakeholders across the UT.

The Chamber expressed hope that the extended LTC provision will contribute to sustained tourist arrivals and help strengthen confidence in Jammu and Kashmir as a preferred travel destination.

KCCI further urged the Central and UT Governments to continue taking measures that facilitate travel, improve connectivity and promote Jammu and Kashmir as a safe, attractive and accessible destination for domestic tourists.
