TRAL, OCT 24: Emphasising the importance of youth participation in nation building and community development, Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a debate competition at Government Degree College Tral under the ongoing Police Flag Day Week–2026, providing students a platform to deliberate on the theme “The Role of Police in Nation Building.”

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who presented their views on the responsibilities of the police in maintaining law and order, safeguarding citizens, upholding the rule of law and contributing to a peaceful and secure society.

The event aimed to familiarise young people with the wider role of the police in society, highlighting that effective policing extends beyond crime prevention and includes community engagement, public awareness and the promotion of mutual trust between law enforcement agencies and citizens.

Through the debate, students were encouraged to develop critical thinking, strengthen their communication skills and express their perspectives on issues concerning public safety, civic responsibility and the role of institutions in nation building.

The programme also served as a platform to strengthen police-public relations by encouraging meaningful interaction between the police and the student community. Such initiatives seek to involve young people in constructive discussions and motivate them to contribute positively to society.

At the conclusion of the competition, the top three performers were felicitated with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their participation and performance.

J&K Police reiterated its commitment to organising youth-centric programmes aimed at promoting civic awareness, responsible citizenship and community participation. The initiative formed part of the broader observance of Police Flag Day Week–2026, which provides an opportunity to recognise the service and sacrifices of police personnel while strengthening engagement with the public.

The event underscored the importance of educational institutions as platforms for dialogue and awareness, bringing students and law enforcement agencies together to promote shared responsibility in building a peaceful, secure and progressive society.
