SRINAGAR, OCT 25: Swift coordination between Jammu and Kashmir Police and Fire and Emergency Services helped prevent a major fire at Mir Sales Corporation in Kaka Sarai from spreading to adjoining buildings, including Medicare Hospital, prompting the Shah Re Khass Traders Chambers and Society (SKTC&S) to commend the emergency teams for their timely intervention and dedicated service.
The fire broke out at Mir Sales Corporation near Medicare Hospital, triggering an emergency response that continued through the night. Police personnel and firefighting teams worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from extending to neighbouring structures, helping avert a potentially more serious situation in the busy commercial locality.
The Shah Re Khass Traders Chambers and Society, led by Chairman Bashir Ahmad Kanu along with its core members, expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Fire and Emergency Services for their efforts during the incident. The organisation particularly appreciated the role of North Srinagar Police, led by SP North Showkat Ahmad, for its coordinated response and efforts to protect nearby establishments.
The proximity of Medicare Hospital made the situation particularly sensitive, as the spread of the blaze could have posed risks to patients, attendants, medical staff and hospital infrastructure. The society credited the emergency personnel with responding professionally under challenging circumstances and helping prevent the incident from escalating into a wider emergency.
Chairman Bashir Ahmad Kanu and the society’s core members praised the courage, commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the personnel involved in the operation. They said the efforts of the police and firefighting teams reflected their dedication to public safety and the protection of lives and property.
The traders’ body also highlighted the importance of effective coordination between law enforcement agencies and emergency services during fire incidents, particularly in densely populated commercial areas where buildings and essential facilities are located close to one another. Timely intervention in such situations can prove crucial in containing damage and protecting vulnerable establishments.
Expressing appreciation for the personnel who worked through the night, the SKTC&S extended its sincere thanks to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, North Srinagar Police and Fire and Emergency Services for their service to the community.
The organisation said the response deserved recognition, particularly for the efforts made to safeguard neighbouring buildings and Medicare Hospital during the emergency.
The statement was issued by Raqib Altaf Shah, Chief Spokesperson and Core President of the Shah Re Khass Traders Chambers and Society.
