DODA, OCT 23: Tightening its action against alleged corruption in public service, the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against a Revenue Department official posted as Girdawar at Tehsil Headquarters Gandoh in Doda district, following a verification that allegedly revealed substantial movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known lawful sources of income.

The case, registered as FIR Number 03/2026 at Police Station ACB Doda, invokes Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The accused has been identified as Mohd. Iqbal, son of Late Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Goilbar Alni, Gangota, who is presently serving at Tehsil Headquarters Gandoh.

According to the ACB, the investigation originated from allegations that the official had accumulated substantial wealth and properties in his own name as well as in the names of his family members. The verification reportedly brought several properties and financial assets under scrutiny, including four commercial buildings, two residential buildings, two plots of land in Doda and Jammu, a vehicle, costly household items and bank accounts.

The Bureau stated that the value of the assets identified during verification was found to be disproportionate to the official’s known sources of income from all lawful sources, prompting the registration of a formal case to investigate the alleged accumulation of wealth.

Moving forward with the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted searches at the accused’s residential and commercial premises and office in Doda and Jammu districts. The searches were carried out in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses as part of the process of collecting relevant evidence.

The investigation is aimed at examining the nature and extent of the assets under scrutiny and establishing their sources of acquisition in relation to the official’s known lawful income. Further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the course of the investigation.

The ACB has confirmed that further investigation is in progress. The allegations against the official have yet to be established through the legal process.
