SRINAGAR, SEPT 11: ADGP Armed J&K Nitish Kumar, visited the Armed Police Complex (APC), Parihaspora Pattan, on Friday on the Raising Day of 9 JKAP IR Battalion, where he reviewed the operational preparedness, functioning and administrative arrangements of four Armed Police battalions stationed at the complex.
The ADGP was accompanied by DIG Armed Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman. On arrival, he was accorded a guard of honour by contingents representing 3, 9, 20 and 21 JKAP IR Battalions, including a specially presented smart contingent, reflecting the discipline, turnout and professionalism of the Armed Police personnel.
A major highlight of the visit was the flag-off ceremony of J&K Police Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) expeditions to Mount Kolahoi (17,799 ft) and Kang Yatse II (20,500 ft). The teams, led by Inspector Ram Singh, In-charge MRT, were flagged off by ADGP Armed, who appreciated the personnel for their physical fitness, dedication and sporting spirit and wished them success in the challenging expeditions.
During the visit, Nitish Kumar inspected key facilities and establishments at the APC, including the administrative block, mess, gym centre and canteen facilities serving the four battalions. He also took stock of the overall upkeep and administrative preparedness of the complex.
The ADGP subsequently interacted with officers and jawans during a darbar, providing personnel an opportunity to put forward their concerns and grievances. He gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured the personnel that genuine grievances would be examined and addressed through the appropriate channels.
Addressing the personnel, ADGP Armed emphasised the need for continuous training, physical fitness, professional discipline and operational readiness. He urged all ranks to make maximum use of available training facilities and opportunities to upgrade their skills and remain prepared to meet emerging security challenges.
He also advised personnel to maintain a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, stay away from drugs and other harmful substances, and exercise caution against excessive or irresponsible use of online gaming and digital platforms.
During the visit, ADGP Armed felicitated 12 personnel of 9 JKAP IR Battalion, including 10 recipients of DGP Commendation Medals/Certificates, for their meritorious service, dedication and exemplary performance.
Among those recognised was Constable Shubanandan Sharma, who secured a Bronze Medal in Powerlifting at the All-India Police Sports Championship and two Silver Medals at the North India Police Sports Competition. ASI Bodh Raj was also felicitated with a Certificate of Appreciation for SANJY-2026.
Congratulating the awardees, Nitish Kumar commended their commitment to professional excellence and said that such achievements reflected the discipline, dedication and proud traditions of the J&K Police.
The ADGP appreciated the cleanliness, neatness and overall upkeep of APC Parihaspora, besides commending the officers and personnel of all four battalions for maintaining high standards of discipline, turnout and administrative preparedness.
