ANANTNAG, OCT 23: In a major night-time enforcement drive aimed at curbing illegal mining, checking traffic violations and strengthening security across the district, Anantnag Police conducted extensive checking operations at multiple locations, seizing vehicles allegedly involved in unlawful activities and detaining dozens of individuals for verification.
During the operations, police seized two tractors and two tippers allegedly involved in illegal mining, taking action against activities that violate mining regulations. The enforcement drive also focused on identifying suspicious individuals, checking vehicle documents and ensuring compliance with traffic laws.
As part of the security and verification measures, 69 suspicious individuals were detained for verification. Police also took action against 27 motorcycles found operating without valid documents, which were seized or challaned as warranted under the applicable provisions. In a separate enforcement measure, 38 persons were apprehended for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act, while two vehicles with adverse antecedents were seized for further verification and necessary legal action.
The coordinated night-time checking operations reflect the district police’s continued focus on preventing unlawful activities, enforcing statutory provisions and maintaining vigilance at multiple locations. The action against suspected illegal mining vehicles forms part of the broader enforcement effort to deter unauthorised extraction and transportation of minerals, while traffic checks are intended to improve compliance with road safety requirements and vehicle documentation norms.
The verification of suspicious individuals and vehicles with adverse antecedents also formed an important component of the operation, enabling police to examine relevant records and determine whether further legal action was warranted. Police have indicated that action will be taken in accordance with the law wherever violations are established.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order, Anantnag Police said enforcement operations would continue across the district to prevent illegal activities, strengthen security and ensure compliance with the law. Violators will face appropriate legal action as warranted under the applicable provisions.
The police have urged the public to comply with mining regulations and traffic laws, maintain valid vehicle documents and cooperate with checking and verification procedures.
