AWANTIPORA, OCT 22: As part of the ongoing Police Flag Day Week celebrations, Awantipora Police organised an exhibition at District Police Lines (DPL), Awantipora, to commemorate the valour, sacrifice and service of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The programme brought together family members of police martyrs and prominent citizens from different areas of Police District Awantipora to pay tribute to the fallen heroes and acknowledge their invaluable contribution to safeguarding the nation.

The event began with floral tributes to the martyrs, honouring their supreme sacrifices, courage and unwavering commitment to duty. The gathering remembered the police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the lives and security of citizens, with the exhibition providing a platform to reflect on their bravery and dedication.

During the programme, videos and accounts depicting the courage, valour and sacrifice of police martyrs were showcased. These presentations highlighted the challenging circumstances in which police personnel discharged their duties and reminded participants of the sacrifices made by their colleagues in the service of the nation. The exhibition also sought to familiarise the public, particularly the younger generation, with the legacy of police martyrs and the values of courage, discipline and selfless service associated with their profession.

A key component of the event was an introduction to the concept and functioning of the Savera Cell, with particular emphasis on strengthening institutional support and maintaining a close bond between the police organisation and the families of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Participants were briefed on various welfare schemes and initiatives intended to assist the families of police martyrs. The discussions highlighted the importance of continued engagement, support and coordination to ensure that the families remain connected with the police organisation and receive information about available welfare measures.

The participation of martyrs’ families and members of the public added significance to the programme, reinforcing the message that the sacrifices of fallen police personnel remain deeply valued and remembered. The exhibition also highlighted the importance of recognising not only the courage of the martyrs but also the enduring contribution and sacrifices of their families.

Through the initiative, Awantipora Police reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the legacy of its martyrs, recognising their service to the nation and strengthening welfare-oriented engagement with their bereaved families. The programme formed part of the broader Police Flag Day Week observances aimed at paying tribute to fallen personnel and highlighting the dedication and sacrifices of police forces in maintaining peace, security and public safety.
