Srinagar, Oct 8: The Jammu & Kashmir Branch of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised an industrial visit for Chartered Accountancy students to the Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) plant in Srinagar on Thursday.

The visit was aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by familiarising CA students with real-world business operations and industrial processes.

CA Amit Gupta, Chairman, J&K Branch of NIRC of ICAI, said industrial visits form an integral part of the Branch’s efforts to provide students with practical exposure and help them understand the functioning of businesses and industries beyond the classroom.

The visit was coordinated by Shehnawaz Khan and witnessed participation from a large number of CA students from across the Kashmir Valley. The students were given an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of industrial operations, supply chain management and manufacturing processes in the dairy sector.

During the visit, Hamid, Plant In-charge, JKMPCL Srinagar, guided the students through the facility and provided an overview of the functioning of JKMPCL, a dairy cooperative engaged in milk procurement, processing and manufacture of dairy products under its brand, “Snowcap”.

The students were briefed on various stages of the dairy value chain, including milk procurement, supply chain management, quality control, processing, manufacturing, distribution and marketing. They also observed the processing and manufacture of products such as milk, ghee, paneer and curd.

The visit also highlighted the importance of hygiene standards, quality assurance and efficient operational management in the food and dairy industry, giving students practical insights into the financial, operational and managerial dimensions of an industrial enterprise.

The initiative is part of the J&K Branch’s efforts to expand student activities across the Union Territory and provide CA students in the Valley with access to industry-oriented learning opportunities.

The Branch’s Managing Committee, comprising CA Amit Gupta, Chairman; CA Jatin Malhotra, Vice-Chairman; CA Sanchit Aggarwal, Secretary; CA Ayush Mahajan, Treasurer; CA Sourav Pargal, Immediate Past Chairman; and CA Ayush Sawhney, Executive Committee Member, has been undertaking initiatives aimed at enhancing practical learning and professional exposure for CA students.

The J&K Branch of NIRC of ICAI reiterated its commitment to capacity building, professional development and industry interaction for students, and said it would organise more such knowledge-oriented industrial visits in the future.
