SRINAGAR, SEPT 16: Jammu and Kashmir Police has moved to further strengthen its security posture across the Central Kashmir Range, with IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar directing field commanders to intensify counter-insurgency operations, step up area domination and plug vulnerable points along inter-district routes.
The directions were issued during a security review meeting chaired by the IGP at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, where the security situation and operational preparedness across Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal were reviewed.
DIG Central Kashmir Range, SSPs of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, all SDPOs and other senior officers attended the meeting.
The IGP sought detailed briefings from officers on the ground situation in their respective areas and the effectiveness of the existing security grid.
Kumar directed officers to step up CI operations and area domination, while ordering intensified naka checking at vulnerable locations and tighter surveillance along inter-district borders.
He stressed that the security grid must remain dynamic, alert and capable of responding immediately to emerging threats, directing commanders to regularly reassess deployments and reinforce vulnerable areas without delay.
The IGP also called for stronger preventive measures and closer coordination among field formations, directing officers to maintain constant vigilance and ensure that no security gap is allowed to develop.
The meeting concluded with clear instructions for round-the-clock alertness, intensified field checking, strengthened surveillance and coordinated preventive policing across the Central Kashmir Range.
The review comes as the police leadership continues to focus on maintaining a robust security apparatus and ensuring swift response to any emerging challenge in the region.
