J&K Waqf Board Chairperson and Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Monday inaugurated a shrine upgradation project and a high-tech ambulance service at the Baba Payam-ud-Din Rishi shrine in Baba Rishi, Tangmarg.
Andrabi paid obeisance at the shrine and prayed for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir before attending a function organised by the Waqf Board.
The upgradation project includes beautification of the shrine complex, improved public facilities and better management.
Later, Andrabi reviewed ongoing development works, including those at Gulmarg Jamia Masjid, and interacted with the engineering team to assess progress and ensure timely completion.
Senior Waqf Board officials, including Special Officer Auqaf Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat, JKAS, Executive Magistrate and Tehsildar Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, JKAS, and Executive Engineer Er Qazi Mushtaq were present.
Addressing the gathering, Andrabi said the Waqf Board was undertaking development works across its properties and shrines in Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on modern infrastructure, public amenities, cleanliness and preservation of spiritual heritage.
“The Waqf Board is undergoing a historic transformation across Jammu and Kashmir. Our endeavour is to ensure that every shrine and Waqf institution reflects development, dignity, cleanliness and efficient public service,” she said.
She said the Board was undertaking development initiatives across different regions in a planned and transparent manner to make Waqf properties centres of spirituality, community service and public welfare while preserving their historic character.
Andrabi also called for collective efforts by Waqf officials, local communities and devotees to maintain the sanctity, cleanliness and dignity of shrines.
She said the Board would continue to undertake projects aimed at improving facilities for devotees and strengthening Waqf infrastructure.
