JAMMU, SEPT 11: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, reviewed the functioning of the Border Protection Grid (BPG) during a comprehensive security review with the concerned formations of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).
The review meeting focused on strengthening the multi-layered security mechanism along the borders and enhancing coordination among the security forces deployed in the sensitive border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP took detailed feedback from the participating formations regarding the existing security arrangements, deployment patterns, surveillance mechanisms and operational preparedness under the Border Protection Grid. He also assessed the measures being adopted to detect and prevent infiltration, movement of suspicious elements and other security threats in border areas.
Emphasis was laid on close coordination, real-time intelligence sharing and prompt operational response among the BSF, CRPF and JKP to ensure that potential threats are identified at an early stage and effectively neutralised.
The DGP stressed the need for maintaining high levels of alertness and vigilance, particularly along vulnerable stretches of the border, while ensuring that the security grid remains dynamic and responsive to emerging challenges.
The participating formations also apprised the DGP of the prevailing security situation and the steps being taken to further strengthen the border security architecture. The review included assessment of surveillance and monitoring arrangements, inter-agency coordination and preparedness to respond to any emerging threat.
DGP Nalin Prabhat underscored the importance of seamless synergy between all security forces operating in the border belt, observing that effective coordination and timely exchange of actionable information are crucial for maintaining peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.
The review assumes significance amid the continued focus on further strengthening the security grid along the Union Territory’s borders and ensuring a coordinated response to infiltration attempts and other security challenges.
