SHOPIAN, SEPT 19: Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range (SKR) Anantnag, Javaid Iqbal Matoo, on Saturday directed police officers in Shopian to accelerate investigations and ensure timely disposal of crime cases, with special focus on cases pending for more than five years.
Chairing a crime review meeting at the Conference Hall of District Police Office (DPO) Shopian, the DIG reviewed the overall crime situation, registration and investigation of cases and their disposal.
All Gazetted Officers and Station House Officers of the district attended the meeting.
DIG Matoo directed officers to closely supervise investigations and ensure that cases are investigated professionally, thoroughly and within the prescribed legal framework.
He specifically called for expediting long-pending cases and taking all necessary steps for their disposal in accordance with established procedures.
The status of cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was also reviewed.
The DIG further directed officers to maintain effective coordination, closely monitor important and long-pending investigations and ensure that there are no avoidable delays in the legal process.
He stressed that professional investigation, strict supervision and timely disposal of cases must remain a priority for officers at all levels.
