Jammu, Sep 19: Reiterating that India’s youth power formed the fulcrum of its journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that his government was working on every front to increase employment in the country.
He was addressing the gathering at 45 locations across the country, including Jammu, via video-conferencing during 20th Rozgar Mela, where he distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in various government departments and organisations.
Among over 51,000 new recruits, who were handed over appointment letters by the Prime Minister through digital mode across the country, also included 132 J&K candidates, including 25 women.
J&K youth, selected in different government organisations, were handed over their appointment letters physically by the chief guest- Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, in a function held at the Convention Centre, Jammu, following the PM’s address.
Member Parliament from Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA Yudhvir Sethi accompanied the Union Minister besides other dignitaries and senior officers of Income Tax and other departments on this occasion.
With the 20th Rozgar Mela, so far, a total of about 12.75 lakh youth across the country have received appointment letters in various departments and government organisations. Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh coordinated the Rozgar Mela from New Delhi.
PM Modi, in his address, while connecting job creation to robust macroeconomic health, said, “New youth opportunities emerge only when the economy grows, investments increase, and new industries expand.”
In this context, he also referred to the nation’s impressive 7.8 percent growth rate and a 12 percent surge in investments during the first quarter, noting that rating agencies were upgrading the nation’s economic outlook despite pervasive global uncertainties.
“The reforms of the past years have a major contribution behind this growth of India,” PM Modi noted.
Welcoming the new appointees into the Government of India, the Prime Minister emphasised, what he described as “the pivotal role of youth in continuously empowering the twin campaigns of a developed and self-reliant India through every administrative decision.”
He affirmed that the world in the current turbulent scenario pinned high hopes on Indian innovators, entrepreneurs and youth power.
Reflecting on the recently concluded BRICS Summit, the Prime Minister stated that the administration’s strategy was to expand international cooperation far beyond traditional government-to-government interactions.
He explained that initiatives like BRICS CONNECT and the BRICS MSME Cooperation Portal were designed to integrate entrepreneurs, farmers, women and the youth directly into global partnerships and exhorted all these sections to be active participants.
PM Modi reiterated that Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with approximately 40 countries were unlocking unprecedented career possibilities for youth, forging new markets and dynamic partnerships for domestic entrepreneurs.
Reaffirming the government’s sustained focus on future-ready skilling, he listed transformative initiatives such as the National Education Policy, the Skill India Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and efforts to promote apprenticeships.
He highlighted the PM-SETU scheme, which he said, was modernising one thousand government ITIs with an investment of Rs 60,000 Cr alongside direct industry participation. The Prime Minister pointed towards the explosive growth of the domestic startup ecosystem, helping India emerging as the world’s third-largest startup hub.
Lauding this achievement, he noted that nearly half of recognised startups were from tier-two and tier-three cities of the country, thus ensuring the growing role of the youth from villages, towns and small cities in India’s new economy. PM Modi also outlined the strategy to boost private sector employment, the Prime Minister highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, a massive one lakh crore rupee initiative aiming to introduce two crore youths into the formal workforce for the first time.
“The scheme offers up to Rs 15,000 in incentives for first-time employees while also financially rewarding employers who generate new jobs,” he stated.
He asked the new officials to embrace an era of continuous administrative transformation to ensure that the “Reform Express” could run at full speed without any hindrance. In this connection, he delineated the critical need to simplify tax compliance, enhance the ease of doing business, implement reforms in education and skilling, and open new sectors to innovation.
PM Modi challenged the new recruits to match this courage by championing the deep aspirations of the country’s youth. He insisted that every file signature and every administrative decision must actively clear hurdles, allow ideas to flourish, and promote innovation-driven investment that ultimately creates employment.
The Prime Minister asked them to actively dismantle the bureaucratic hurdles they themselves faced before joining the service. The new recruits were asked to continuously upgrade their skills and master new technologies through the Mission Karmayogi framework.
Following the Prime Minister’s address, in Jammu, the Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines distributed 132 appointment letters among the J&K youth.
Greeting the new recruits, Dubey, in his address, asked them to work wholeheartedly for the progress of J&K and the nation. Later speaking to media persons, Dubey stated, “Today 132 youth of J&K, including 25 our daughters, received their appointment letters as part of countrywide 20th Rozgar mela. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ample opportunities are being created for youth for employment and entrepreneurship.”
“I will appeal to the youth to avail these opportunities and contribute their bit for a stronger and self-reliant India. The youth should focus on becoming job creators instead of job-seekers and that will be the key to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat besides their personal growth,” he asserted.
