Handwara Police tightens noose on traffic violators, illegal mining

HANDWARA, SEPT 12: Stepping up enforcement against traffic violations and illegal mining, J&K Police in Handwara seized six motorcycles and a tractor allegedly carrying illegally mined material during separate checking operations.

The motorcycles were intercepted during checking at nakas established in Handwara and Langate, where police found the riders violating prescribed traffic rules. The vehicles were subsequently seized as part of the ongoing traffic enforcement drive.

In another action, police seized a tractor allegedly transporting illegally mined material, taking action against the unauthorised movement of extracted material.

The twin enforcement actions reflect the continued focus of Police District Handwara on road safety, traffic discipline and curbing illegal mining activities.

Police said such checking drives will continue at vulnerable locations to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and prevent activities that adversely affect public safety and the environment.

The latest action also underlines the police commitment to maintaining lawful and disciplined road use while taking strict action against illegal mining and transportation of mined material.
