HANDWARA, SEPT 9: Handwara Police, in a joint operation with 21 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 Battalion CRPF, has busted a terror module allegedly being operated by an ex-terrorist in hybrid mode in the Handwara–Kupwara area.
Police said it had received reliable information regarding the activities of an ex-terrorist allegedly operating as a hybrid terrorist as part of a module linked to the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
Acting swiftly on the intelligence input, the joint team launched an operation at an identified location in Handwara town.
Following a meticulous security drill, the suspect was apprehended and identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat, a resident of Kruhmura, Handwara.
During his apprehension, security forces recovered one Chinese-made pistol, two magazines and 16 rounds of pistol ammunition from his possession.
According to police, Bhat is an ex-terrorist who had previously been arrested in two cases.
A case, FIR Number 232, has been registered at Police Station Handwara under relevant provisions of law.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged terror module, its network and the involvement of other associates.
The operation marks another significant action by Handwara Police and security forces against attempts to revive or sustain terror networks in the region.
