JK Media Guild expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Syed Bashir Ahmad Simnaani, a veteran journalist of Kashmir Valley and Chief Editor of the daily Morning Times.
In a hurriedly organised meeting attended by President JK Media Guild Mir Aijaz, Vice President Bilal Bazaz, General Secretary Imtiyaz Bazaz, organiser Shahid Rashid, convenor Khalid Qureshi and other executive members of the association, a resolution was passed in which tributes were paid to the deceased. The meeting, as per a statement, expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Popularly known as Naushad Sb, in the media fraternity, Syed Bashir Ahmad Simnani rendered distinguished services to journalism in Kashmir from the 1980s till his last breath. Over the decades, he gave voice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting their issues, concerns and sentiments. His passing away is a major loss to the journalistic fraternity, felt the participants. He was laid to rest at the graveyard in Rawalpora, Srinagar.
