Srinagar, Oct 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (JKHARA) has welcomed the new Ease of Doing Business framework introduced by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, describing the relaxed regulatory conditions as a significant step towards strengthening the business environment and promoting enterprise growth.

JKHARA President Babar Chowdhary said the new framework would provide greater ease and flexibility to both new and existing entrepreneurs, enabling businesses to expand their operations, scale up investments and pursue new opportunities with fewer regulatory hurdles.

He said the reforms, aimed at simplifying procedures and rationalising regulatory requirements, could play a vital role in unlocking entrepreneurial potential and encouraging investment across sectors.

According to Chowdhary, the impact of the reforms would extend beyond individual enterprises, with the expansion of existing businesses and establishment of new ventures expected to generate greater economic activity and create additional employment opportunities.

He said the measures were particularly significant for the tourism and hospitality sectors, which have strong linkages with a wide range of allied businesses and considerable potential for employment generation.

Chowdhary appreciated the Omar Abdullah-led Government for undertaking measures aimed at simplifying the regulatory environment and creating more favourable conditions for businesses. He said the focus on easing compliance and reducing procedural hurdles was a positive development for the business community.

He said a more predictable and facilitative regulatory environment would benefit both established enterprises seeking to expand and new entrepreneurs looking to enter the market.

JKHARA said the new framework could contribute to strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s economy by encouraging reinvestment, business expansion, entrepreneurship and employment generation.

Chowdhary, however, stressed that the effectiveness of the reforms would ultimately depend on their implementation at the ground level. He urged the concerned departments and agencies to ensure that the simplified procedures and relaxed conditions are implemented consistently and that entrepreneurs are able to avail the intended benefits without unnecessary delays.

JKHARA said it would continue to engage constructively with the Government and other stakeholders to strengthen the business environment and promote sustainable growth in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The Association said the new framework should pave the way for an ecosystem in which both new and established enterprises can grow, expand and contribute more effectively to economic development and employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
