KULGAM, SEPT 11: Kulgam Police arrested an absconder who had allegedly been evading arrest for nearly five years in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Ishaq Sheikh, son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh, a resident of Okey, Kulgam.
He was wanted in FIR Number 152/2021 under Sections 8/15 and 29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Kulgam.
Acting on specific information and following sustained efforts, a police team from Police Station Kulgam tracked down and apprehended the accused in Kulgam.
After completing the requisite legal formalities, the accused was produced before the Sessions Court, Kulgam. The court subsequently ordered his detention and he was sent to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The arrest marks a significant development in the police efforts to trace and bring long-pending absconders to justice, particularly those wanted in cases involving narcotics.
Kulgam Police reiterated that sustained efforts would continue to trace absconders and wanted persons and ensure that individuals attempting to evade the law are brought before the appropriate judicial authorities.
