KULGAM, OCT 14: Kulgam Police, in close coordination with the Army’s 01 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and CRPF personnel from 40, 18 and 90 Battalions, conducted an anti-fidayeen mock drill at Harnag Railway Station to assess security preparedness, test emergency response mechanisms and strengthen inter-agency coordination.
The exercise was designed to evaluate the readiness of security personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to a simulated militant attack scenario at a critical public transportation facility. The drill focused on coordinated operational responses, securing vulnerable locations and ensuring the safe evacuation of passengers and civilians during a potential security emergency.
During the exercise, road cut-offs were established at designated locations to facilitate coordinated security operations and regulate movement in accordance with the simulated situation. Personnel from the participating agencies jointly implemented response measures to neutralise the simulated threat and evacuate civilians safely from the affected area.
The mock drill provided an opportunity to assess operational coordination, response mechanisms and communication among the participating forces. It also reinforced the importance of preparedness, timely mobilisation and coordinated decision-making in managing potential security incidents.
The participation of Kulgam Police, the Army, GRP, RPF and CRPF highlighted the significance of inter-agency cooperation in securing railway infrastructure and protecting passengers. Such exercises help evaluate existing procedures, identify operational gaps and improve the ability of security personnel to respond to unforeseen situations.
The exercise reaffirmed the commitment of the participating agencies to maintaining heightened vigilance, strengthening security arrangements at railway installations and ensuring the safety of commuters and the general public.
Through coordinated preparedness drills, security agencies continue to focus on enhancing operational readiness and ensuring a swift, effective and unified response to emerging security challenges across the region.
