JAMMU, SEPT 10: Two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel have been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending a departmental inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Uttam Chand of Rakh Chakroi, R.S. Pura, with preliminary inquiry also ordered against three Special Police Officers over their conduct in connection with the incident.
As per an order issued by District Police Headquarters Jammu, PSI Vikram Choudhary, Incharge BPP Chakroi, and Constable Rinku Kumar, Belt No. 1650/J, have been suspended in connection with DDR No. 35 dated September 9, 2026, registered at Police Station R.S. Pura.
Both suspended personnel have been directed to report to DPL Jammu and deposit their uniform articles with immediate effect.
The order has further directed SP Rural Jammu to conduct a departmental inquiry and submit the findings at the earliest. The inquiry has been allotted D.E. No. 76/2026.
Meanwhile, a preliminary inquiry has been ordered against SPO Rajesh Choudhary, SPO Ashwani Kumar and SPO Manpreet Singh to examine their conduct in connection with the incident. The three SPOs have been attached from BPP Chakroi to DPL Jammu with immediate effect.
The departmental action comes amid demands for a transparent and impartial probe into the circumstances surrounding Uttam Chand’s death.
The inquiry is expected to establish the sequence of events and examine the conduct of the police personnel concerned, with further action to follow based on the findings.
