REASI, SEPT 11: Banganga Police has stepped up enforcement on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Track, booking two pony handlers for allegedly operating without valid identification cards.
The checking was carried out on the directions of senior police officers as part of measures to ensure that pony services operating along the pilgrimage route strictly adhere to the prescribed regulations.
During the operation, police officials found two pony handlers allegedly operating without valid ID cards. Taking cognisance of the violations, separate cases were registered against both individuals.
Police registered FIR Number 290/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS against Sushil Kumar, son of Shadi Ram, resident of Sarote, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu.
In another case, FIR Number 291/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS was registered against Shabroz Khan, son of Shamis Din, resident of Jamlan, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi.
The police action is aimed at ensuring that only duly identified and authorised pony handlers operate on the Yatra Track, thereby strengthening regulation of pony services and enhancing the safety and convenience of pilgrims.
Reasi Police said checking drives would continue along the pilgrimage route and warned pony handlers to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines and carry valid identification cards while providing services to devotees.
The police reiterated that enforcement measures are being undertaken to maintain discipline, safety and security on the Yatra Track and facilitate a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees visiting the holy shrine.
