UDHAMPUR, SEPT 17: Two terrorists were killed in a joint counter-terrorism operation in Udhampur’s Brattal area during the intervening night of September 16 and 17, with security forces continuing an intensive search to rule out the presence of any other threats.
The operation, codenamed Operation Sohan, was launched by the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after security agencies received confirmed intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Despite hostile weather, difficult terrain and poor visibility, the joint forces moved into the area and launched a targeted operation. The engagement resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists.
The Army said the operation is still underway, with search and surveillance teams maintaining a tight grid across the area to track any remaining threat. Security personnel have also been kept deployed at strategic locations as combing operations continue.
Forces are conducting a thorough search of the operational area and adjoining stretches, while surveillance measures remain active to prevent any surviving terrorist from escaping the security cordon.
The operation comes amid continued security efforts to detect and neutralise terrorist threats in the mountainous areas of the Jammu region through coordinated intelligence and ground operations.
