BUDGAM, SEPT 19: Police arrested an absconding accused wanted in multiple cheque-bounce cases and a cheating case, officials said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, resident of Attina, Beerwah, was traced to Hawal, Srinagar, following coordinated efforts by police teams.

Dar is wanted in connection with FIR Number 26/2024 under Section 420 IPC registered at Police Station Magam.

He was also figuring in the absconder/missing list of Police Station Beerwah, while the Court of CJM Budgam had issued a warrant against him in proceedings under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Acting on specific information, a team from Police Station Beerwah, in coordination with Police Station Zadibal, Srinagar, tracked down and apprehended the accused from Hawal.

During preliminary investigation, police said it emerged that the accused was allegedly cheating multiple persons after gaining their confidence through fraudulent representations linked to gold-related business transactions.

Officials said the accused allegedly left the business following the transactions and remained untraceable for a considerable period before being apprehended.

Further legal proceedings are underway in accordance with law.
