SOPORE, SEPT 22: Continuing its youth-oriented initiatives under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27, Sopore Police organised a cycle race at Railway Crossing, Amargarh, with around 400 students from government and private educational institutions participating in the event.
The race provided young participants an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting talent, endurance and competitive spirit in a healthy and positive environment. Students enthusiastically took part in the event, adding to the growing series of sports activities being conducted by Sopore Police across the police district.
The cycle race forms part of the ongoing CAP 2026-27 sporting programme, which has already featured handball, volleyball, cricket, kho-kho, athletics and other sporting activities at different locations.
Sopore Police said the initiatives are aimed at promoting sports among youth, identifying and encouraging local talent and providing young people with constructive avenues to utilise their energy. The programme also seeks to strengthen police-public engagement and build stronger community connections at the grassroots level.
Police said more sports and youth-oriented activities will be organised across Police District Sopore under CAP 2026-27 to encourage wider participation and provide meaningful platforms for young people to pursue their sporting interests.
