Jammu, Oct 30: Independent MLA from Surankote, Chowdhary Mohammed Akram has called upon all elected representatives, particularly members of the National Conference and independent legislators, to stand united behind the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at this crucial juncture.
In a press statement, he said that the present government was not merely an elected administration committed to development but also represented the secular values, pluralistic traditions and distinct regional identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Akram said that divisive forces were attempting to create confusion, mistrust and political instability among the people. “Such attempts must be resisted collectively in the larger interest of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
“At this critical time, our priority should be to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold secular values and work collectively for the aspirations of our people. Political differences should not be allowed to undermine the broader interests of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Akram further urged elected representatives to rise above narrow political considerations and extend constructive support to the Omar Abdullah-led government to ensure stability, development and the protection of the region’s unique identity.
