SRINAGAR, SEPT 17: Tightening the noose around illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of minerals, Police seized seven vehicles, including four tractors, two tippers and a dumper, during separate actions in Ganderbal and Baramulla districts.

The vehicles were found allegedly extracting and transporting mineral material without valid authorisation, in violation of prescribed mining norms.

Acting promptly, Police seized the vehicles on the spot and referred the cases to the concerned Geology and Mining Department, which subsequently imposed fines under the relevant provisions of law.

Police said the drive against illegal extraction and transportation of minerals will continue, with strict action against those found involved in such activities.

The public has also been urged to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies in safeguarding natural resources and preventing illegal mining.
